Hotel Grand Chancellor Palm Cove - 2 Accessible Rooms

Note

The toilet and shower may not be suitable to all users due to the configuration of the toilet grab rail and close proximity of the sink to the front of the pan. Guests with an ambulant disability may find this accommodation more suitable than a person requiring full wheelchair access. 

Parking

There are two accessible parking bays provided for guests within the carpark located close to the accessible rooms. If travelling by coach or taxi there is an accessible set down area immediately in front of the resort. This area may need to be used in rainy periods. 

Entry into reception

Entry into reception is through automatic double doors. Reception is a large tiled level area with ample seating. The reception counter does not have a lowered section for wheel chairs but staff will assist guests if required. 

Accommodation

The accessible guest rooms are on level access with no steps or sills. The door handles are L style levers and the clear door width is 960mm. The clear width at the widest point next to the two double beds is 2.5m. The TV and AC are controlled by remote. The beds have a height from floor to top of mattress of 615mm and an under clearance of 100mm. The desk has a height from floor to top of 760mm and an under clearance of 650mm. The clothes hanging rail is mounted 1400mm from the floor. A sink, coffee and tea making facilities are provided for your convenience.

Sanitary Facilities

Entry into the accessible shower and toilet is through a door with a clear width of 800mm. The facility is a combined toilet and shower with a dimension of 2185mm long by 1760mm wide. The shower is hob less and is easily accessible. The shower does not have a fold down seat but a portable seat is provided for your convenience.  There is a horizontal grab rail only fitted and the shower has a lever flick mix tap. Horizontal and vertical grab rails are fitted and mounted 810mm from the floor. The toilet is fitted with a side grab rail but it has been mounted too low. The sink is mounted 410mm from the front of the pan and may impede clear access for some guests. The pan is mounted 410mm from the side wall to the centre of the pan and 440mm from floor to top of seat. Clearance to the under side of the sink is 670mm with a top height of 815mm and the base of the mirror is 990mm from floor to bottom of mirror.

Reef House Palm Cove - 1 Accessible Room- Recommended for ambulant and wheel chair users with a high level of function

Parking

There are no designated accessible parking bays. The Sebel staff will reserve a space if required in the undercover parking area downstairs as there is ample car parking spaces provided. Please advise when booking your room.

Entry into reception

Entry into reception is by way of a good wide accessible ramp located at the front. Reception is through a double manual door that leads into a level tiled area with ample seating. The reception desk does not have a lowered section for wheel chairs but staff are very friendly and will assist where necessary.

Accommodation

The accessible guest room is on the lower ground floor towards the back of the resort. There is level access into the room. The door handle is a knob style with a clear opening width of 750mm and has a very light opening force. Room furniture can be moved to suit the guest's requirements, just notify staff when booking and they will be more than happy to assist. The bed room has one double bed. The space beside the bed is 940mm at the widest spot. Under bed clearance is 130mm and the height to the top of mattress is 560mm. There is a coffee/tea making facility and small bar fridge underneath. The TV can be controlled by remote from the bed. The height of the cupboard clothes rail is 1900mm above the floor.

Sanitary Facilities

Entry into the accessible shower and toilet is through a 690mm clear opening door. The facility has a combined toilet and shower with a dimension of 2270mm long by 2350mm wide. Grab rails are fitted to the toilet wall and are mounted 810mm from the floor to top of grab rail. The shower and toilet is in one large accessible area with no lips to catch caster wheels, although it has a wall and basin ledge protruding in front of the toilet with only 290mm gap between the edge of the closest wall and toilet, which would limit the left side access.

The height of the seat from floor is 410mm and 600mm to centre of pan from side wall. There is a drop down shower seat provided. Shower grab rails both vertical and horizontal are provided; the shower rose is on a sliding rail. The tap is a flick mix lever and easily accessible. There is a drop down shower seat provided. Alassio Palm Cove - 2 Accessible Rooms

Parking

There is no designated accessible parking bay on the Esplanade located near the front drop off area and this zone is not under cover. There is undercover car parking at the apartments, but none are designated accessible. This will be the best place for dropping off a guest with a disability during poor weather.

Entry into reception

At the front of the apartments you will find a set of four steps and a ramp that will lead across the deck into the reception foyer. The ramp also services a shop and gallery. Entry into the office is through a manual door which measures 800mm, which has no step or sill. The office/reception area is quite narrow being just over a metre in front of the desk. The reception counter does not have a lowered section for wheel chair users but staff is happy to assist guests.

Access to public areas

There is a balcony beside the bedroom where there is a spa, which leads onto the pool area. The pool has no special means of accessing it.

Accommodation

The accessible guest rooms are on level access with no step or sill. The measurement of the door is 800mm and it is fitted with a D style handle and requires slight force to open. The rooms are configured with a queen size bed.  Under bed clearance is 100mm and the height to the top of bed is 570mm. The widest accessible point from the side of the bed is 800mm. A small dining table is provided in the room with a top height of 750mm and a height from floor to underside of 730mm. There is a coffee/tea making facility microwave oven and small bar fridge provided for your convenience. The TV and AC can be controlled by remote from the bed. The height of the cupboard clothes rail is 1700mm above the floor. The room balcony is easily accessible with a recessed track. The balcony which has a spa, overlooks the resort pool and is quite spacious with a table and chairs.

Kewarra Beach Resort - 3 accessible bungalows

Parking:

There is no designated accessible parking bays located at the resort, and no under cover drop off areas. The conventional car parking located immediately in front of reception does however have options for parking if required and the resort staff will set up a car park for you if you provide notice when booking.

Entry into reception:

Entry into reception is via a small kerb ramp to the side of the single step into the main foyer. Reception is a level tiled area with ample seating. Access to public areas:

There is reasonable access to the pool area, The pool will not be accessible to all guests, but those with an ability to transfer may be able to access the pool. Pool area The restaurant and bar is accessible through reception, there is currently no accessible toilet located in the reception or restaurant area.

Accommodation:

The accessible bungalows are located a short stroll from reception. The pathways leading to the bungalows range from bitumen to compacted road base. This may cause some issues to guests during the wet season when traversing the compacted road base. A rubber door mat has been placed just in front of each bungalow on top of some pavers, the pavers may impede some guests (see photos) Rubber mats in front of bungalows Entry into the rooms is through double sliding doors with a clear width of 1500mm. There is a 20mm door track to cross over and may be difficult for some guests.

Room furniture can be moved to suit the guest's requirements, just notify staff when booking. The bedroom clear opening door widths are 1410mm, the bungalows are configured with a room containing two single beds and a room with a queen size bed (see photo). Under bed clearance is 120mm and the height to the top of bed is 570mm. The accessible bathroom is located next to the single bed room. The widest point from the side of the bed will vary with the configuration but you will on average achieve 1100mm. A small dining table is provided in the room with a top height of 780mm and a height from floor to underside of 660mm.

There is a coffee/tea making facility and small bar fridge provided for your convenience. The TV and AC can be controlled by remote. The height of the cupboard clothes rail is 710mm above the floor. All the switches are located 1100mm from the floor in easily accessible locations. The room's patio is very spacious and is surrounded by the sounds of silence in a most relaxing atmosphere. Entry into the accessible shower and toilet is through an 910mm door. The facility is a combined toilet and shower with a dimension of 3550mm long by 2360mm wide. The shower seat has dimensions of 490mm from floor to top of seat, 950mm Long and 410mm wide. Grab rails are fitted to the shower both vertical and horizontal (see photo) A flick mix tap is provided and is easily reachable when sitting in front of the shower. A grab rail is fitted to the toilet which wraps around the cistern, this may cause discomfort to some guests. The toilet is mounted 420mm from wall to centre of pan. The seat height is 460mm from floor to top of seat. The sink is located 1060mm from the front of the pan. Clearance to the under side of the sink is 650mm with a top height of 765mm. General:

Staff are very friendly and will assist with baggage if required. Assistance dogs are welcome on the premises. The accommodation is located a short stroll from the beach. Access to the beach will be difficult in a mobility device when crossing the sand. The resort does have a buggy and if you are able to transfer into the buggy they can transport you to the beach dining area. The City is approx 25mins south and Palm Cove approx 10 mins north. Port Douglas is approx 45mins north.

Villa Marine Holiday Apartments Yorkey's Knob - 1 accessible room (ambulant)

Parking:

There are no accessible parking bays provided for guests, but the Manager will shift the sign posts so the customers can park up close on level ground. The clear opening space of the main entrance gate is 880 mm. There is a step into the reception (as shown in photo) .Access to public areas The laundry has a lip of about 100mm, which may make access difficult.

Accommodation:

There is one room with can be accessed by a portable ramp which the very obliging manager with organise and install for you. Room furniture can be moved to suit the guest's requirements. The room has a double bed which can only be accessed from one side with the widest space at the side of the bed being 710mm. The room also has two single beds. Under bed clearance is 80mm and the height to the top of bed is 590mm. The room has a table with a height of 740mm to the top of the table and a 700mm under clearance. The clothes rail is located 1800mm from the floor surface. The height of the light switch is 1140 mm.

Sanitary Facilities:

Entry into the shower and toilet is through a door with a clear width of 690mm. The facility has a separate toilet and shower. The shower has a hob as shown in the photo. There is a vertical grab rail only fitted in the shower. Grab rails are fitted to the toilet wall and is mounted 800mm from the floor to top of grab rail. Clearance to the under side of the sink is 720mm with a top height of 820mm. The height from the floor to the base of the mirror is 1300mm, which is above the sink. There is a long mirror on the inside of the wardrobe in the main room.

General:

The Manager is very friendly and is willing to assist with baggage etc and ensuring you are comfortable during your stay. Assistance dogs are welcome and may stay in room. There is a portable adjustable shower chair if required.
