Savannah Explorer – with Chillagoe Cabins

This fantastic package is the main tour for the Savannahlander. A four-day, three-night tour which also includes side-tours at each of our overnight stops. This package includes your rail fare, on-tour transfers, accommodation, and dinner/breakfast at your overnight accommodation.

Your trip features:

• Travel on the Savannahlander from Cairns to Einasleigh and Forsayth to Cairns.
• En-suite accommodation in Chillagoe at the Chillagoe Cabins
• A tour in the afternoon of the Chillagoe Caves and Town
• En-suited accommodation in Cobbold Gorge.
• Enjoy the Cobbold Gorge Boat Cruise in their custom electric boats.
• En-suited accommodation at the Bedrock Village Van Park.
• Tour the wonderful Undara Lava Tubes.
• All in-tour transfers as required.
• 3 dinners and 3 breakfasts.

Notes:

A fair level of mobility is required for the The Undara Lava Tubes tour as it does include around 300 stairs. They are properly constructed and maintained with landings and some rest benches.

Please note that Cobbold Gorge is closed for the months of March and November. Any tour where your stay in Cobbold would occur in these months will be accommodated in Forsayth at Finnigans Rest and will have the cost of the Cobbold transfer, accommodation and tours deducted from their package price.

Wednesday

• Depart Cairns 6:30am on the Savanahlander and travel up the scenic Kuranda Range stopping for a morning refreshment in Kuranda (own expense).
• Lunch at the Railway Hotel at Almaden
• Chillagoe Caves and Town Tour
• Accommodation at the Chillagoe Cabins including dinner

Thursday

• Breakfast at the Chillagoe Cabins
• Travel on the Savannahlander to Mt Surprise
• Lineside stop for morning tea
• Lunch at Mt Surprise
• Travel on the Savannahlander to Einasleigh
• Bus transfer to Cobbold Gorge
• Tour of Cobbold Gorge in their custom silent electric boats
• Accommodation and dinner at Cobbold Gorge Village

Friday

• Breakfast at Cobbold Gorge Village
• Transfer to Einasleigh to meet up with the Savannahlander
• Lunch a the Einasleigh Pub
• The opportunity to have a short walk and visit the spectacular Copperfield Gorge
• Travel on the Savannahlander from Einasleigh to Mt Surprise
• Bus transfer to the Undara Lava Tubes and a walking tour of one of the tubes
• Accommodation and dinner at Discovery Parks in Mt Surprise

Saturday

• Breakfast at Discovery Parks in Mt Surprise
• Travel on the Savannahlander from Mt Surprise to Cairns
• Lunch at the Almaden Railway Hotel
• Afternoon tea at the Dimbulah Railway station with the Dimbulah Historical Society (at own expense)
• Sunset travel down the scenic Kuranda Range arriving in Cairns at approximately 6:30pm
