Your safari begins along the scenic coastal route to the World Heritage listed Daintree rainforest, encountering intriguing flora and fauna of the region. Walk in the footsteps of Captain Cook, taking in the views of Cooktown. You'll visit the mining town of Weipa, before staying at true blue Aussie cattle station, Bramwell Station.
Day 1 Cairns – Thursday Island – Cape York
Transfer from Cairns accommodation to Cairns Airport. Board your aircraft and fly over the Great Barrier Reef to Horn Island. Ferry transfer to Thursday Island, capital of the Torres Strait Islands with time to enjoy a guided tour of the island. After lunch (own expense today) transfer by ferry to the northern-most settlements of mainland Australia where we stay for two nights.
An unforgettable day! Stand at the very top of mainland Australia. We then visit Somerset (road conditions permitted) We have lunch on the palm fringed Anchorage Beach, which overlooks the Albany Passage. A walk on the beach will complete your day before returning to Seisia.
Southward bound, we cross the mighty Jardine River, stopping at Fruit Bat Falls for lunch. Relax, swim and enjoy this unique area with its enchanting waterfall. Travelling along part of the Old Telegraph Track, before we make our way to a true-blue Aussie cattle station, Bramwell Station.
A southerly run through the wilderness with all its varied landscapes to cross the Wenlock River. We head for the shores of the Gulf of Carpentaria and our overnight stop at Weipa, with its view over Albatross Bay. This afternoon there will be the opportunity of a Wildlife Eco River Cruise (own expense).
We continue south, stopping off at the picturesque Archer River, then on to the historic frontier gold town of Coen. The afternoon finds us arriving at our overnight accommodation at the Old Musgrave Telegraph Station.
Explore Lakefield National Park, Queensland’s second largest at 543,000 hectares (1.34 million acres). Waterlily covered billabongs, wildlife and a great variety of birdlife makes for a memorable morning. We then enter "Quinkan Country" near Laura. Here we climb (suitable footwear and reasonable fitness required; uneven surfaces) the sandstone escarpment at Split Rock to view ancient Aboriginal rock art, dated more than 13,000 years old, depicting traditional activities and culture. Travel through the agricultural district of Lakeland on our way to Cooktown, our overnight stop.
Day 7 Cooktown – Farewell from Cairns
The final exciting day has, unfortunately, arrived, but before returning to Cairns, we make our way south passing the mysterious Black Mountain and the historic Lion’s Den Hotel. Traversing the jungle shrouded Bloomfield Track (road conditions permitted) we see where the 'rainforest meets the reef' at Cape Tribulation. We travel through the splendour of a World Heritage listed rainforest. A scenic drive along the Marlin Coast back to Cairns is a perfect way to complete your tour.

Fitness Requirements - High level of fitness required
If you have any mobility issues or over 80 years of age, it is a requirement to complete the "Fit to Travel & Mobility Questionnaire" and return these to Heritage Tours. A doctor's clearance may be required before booking can be confirmed.

DEPOSIT: A non refundable deposit of $700 per person is required with booking. For booking tours that are departing in less then 90 days, full and immediate payment is required.
FINAL PAYMENT: Final payment is due no later then 90 days prior to departure.
CANCELLATION FEES
Bookings cancelled more than 90 days prior to tour departure - loss of deposit paid.
Cancellation between 90 and 60 days prior to tour departure - 50% cancellation fee of total tour cost.
Cancellation between 59 and 31 days prior to tour departure - 75% cancellation fee of total tour cost.
Cancellation 30 days and less prior to tour departure - 100% cancellation fee of total tour cost.
