The beaches are more coral based in the areas close to the resort so bring a pair of thongs or reef shoes as it can get a little uncomfortable under your tender feet. There is a small delicatessan to purchase basic items but if you are staying for a while you will need to bring your bulk groceries from the mainland. Woolworths Cairns is only a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal building.
